Common Argument Blunders in Essay Topics
Common Argument Blunders in Essay TopicsWhen writing your elementary persuasive essay, the most important aspects you should be aware of are the common problems and misconceptions in terms of how people look at essay topics. The following is a breakdown of the most common areas that essay topics have a problem in.The first misconception, you should be aware of is that essay topics do not necessarily need to make an argument. If you don't want to make the argument here is an example: You have been asked to write about an interesting event that occurred recently, but you don't want to make a direct argument with your essay. In this case you could write about something that caught your attention.Another example of this is if someone has decided to read your essay and give you feedback based on their own research and investigation, they may consider your writing to be misleading. Or it could simply be that you have gone off topic or lost their interest with your essay due to lack of pert inent information. If you aren't sure why they feel this way, ask them, it's important for you to understand their reasoning so you can see where they are coming from.A third way that an argument can be missed in an essay is when the author does not clearly outline what the argument is. This can lead to the argument becoming so loose that it can look very vague. For example, say you are reading a scholarly paper on political theory and one of the authors makes an argument about using a common man's property to build skyscrapers. You might be curious as to why he is arguing against the theory because it doesn't seem to fit his ideas. But if you didn't clearly outline the difference between a common man and a skyscraper then it can be hard to tell which aspect he is trying to disagree with. And if it's confusing then you risk losing his respect by asking the question.Lastly, it's important to keep in mind that you shouldn't use graphs and charts when you are writing an essay. I've hear d many professors in my college classes argue that people in grad school should not write graphs and charts because it will only confuse their students. This is just one more example of a mistaken assumption that people have about how they should write and how they should properly format their essay.First off, you should always learn how to properly format your essay before you even think about writing it. You should use a two column layout, keep your paragraphs short and concise, and always spell check and proofread your work before submission. So while there are plenty of issues that exist about elementary persuasive essay topics, hopefully this list will help you avoid these common pitfalls. The most important thing to remember is that you should always try to write from the heart and not necessarily from your head.
